If you grew up in Germany, especially east Germany/slavic Europe, chances are high this movie is a certified christmas classic to you.
This version of Cinderella is probably unknown to most non Europeans, even though the film became a sacred christmas tradition for many Central/ East Europeans and means a lot to me personally.
“Tři oříšky pro Popelku” (Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella) is the Czechoslovak/ East German film adaptation of the Cinderella fairy-tale written by Božena Němcová. I always loved how Cinderellas personality has so much more depth to it than in most Cinderella adaptations. She is a skilled sharpshooter, has a more or less healthy expectation of love (compared to other Cinderella stories lol) and the costume design is absolutely beautiful. 🌰🌰🌰🕊️
